How Do I Keep My Paint Safe in Winter?

It’s hard to really undersell the struggles that winter can bring. The cold and snow are brutal for just about everything. It saps our energy, makes life harder, and makes our cars work overtime just to get going.

Everything about the winter is a hassle. It is especially troublesome for our cars. We try to take care of them as best we can, but problems still arise. One of the hardest things to do during the winter is keeping your car looking and feeling nice. We have a few tricks that can help you fight the cold.

How to Protect Car Paint in Winter

It isn’t as hard to protect your paint as you might think. The biggest thing that you need to worry about is the road salt. Salt can leech into your car’s paint which will eventually eat away at it and leave your car looking dingy and dirty. This is why it is important to regularly get your car washed and cleaned. When you are getting your car washed, you will need to clean the underbody as well to prevent rust damage.

When your car is clean, it is time to protect it. You should always apply a layer of wax or paint protection after a wash. This will help give your car’s exterior some protection through the winter. You should also be careful not to use too rough a brush when removing snow and ice. Be sure to give your car one last thorough cleaning once winter is over as well.
