Perhaps most often, Apple CarPlay® technology is used to play music, podcasts or newscasts. Another popular function available through Apple CarPlay® is being able access to navigation through commonly used applications like Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze. Instructions for Setting Up Apple CarPlay®
Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration is supported in more than 500 car models. The system only works on iPhone 5 and newer devices. Apple CarPlay® can be connected using a Lightning cable plugged into the respective USB port, but newer systems can also be connected through Bluetooth® audio.
When connecting to Apple CarPlay® with the Lightning cord, instructions are quite basic. Just plug your Lightning cord into the USB port labeled with the CarPlay icon or mobile phone. Then, connect your iPhone to the Lightning cable and start the Apple CarPlay® program on your vehicle’s infotainment display. Sometimes you may be asked to confirm a pin number on your vehicle’s display.
When connecting using Bluetooth® technology, open your iPhone’s settings, tap “General” and the “CarPlay.” Then, press “Available Models” and select your vehicle. From there, you will also have to launch the Apple CarPlay® system on your vehicle by visiting the audio settings.
Once your Apple CarPlay® is activated, you have the ability to edit the applications and home screen through the Settings application in the CarPlay® menu. You can also engage features like Do Not Disturb While Driving and Siri hands-free.
