How to maximize fuel efficiency in your used vehicle

Here at Carville’s Auto Mart we’re proud to offer some of the most efficient used cars on the road; however, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the most out of your tank with any other vehicles that we offer. If you’ve been searching for a way to go longer between fill ups, today we’ll give you some tips on how to maximize fuel efficiency in your used vehicle!

Avoid driving aggressively

We’ve all seen these kind of people; they’re the ones weaving in and out of lanes on busy highways, brake-checking other drivers and tailgating more than is ever necessary. Driving aggressively like this can seriously hurt your gas mileage when you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic often. Lay off the gas pedal the next time you head out and you might notice your gauge responding positively!

Obey the speed limit

For some, speed limits are a nuisance. For others, they’re the logical way to keep yourself safe on the road. However, there are other benefits to driving the speed limit as well; not only will you be getting to your destination in roughly the same amount of time, but keeping at a lower speed can reduce strain on your engine. This helps you get more out of every tank!

Use cruise control

In addition to obeying the speed limit, utilizing cruise control on the road can also help to keep your vehicle performing longer. This is because your speed and (for the most part) RPM output stay fixed, helping your engine run at peak performance.

Remove all excessive baggage and weight

Let’s be honest; most of the belongings in your vehicle don’t really need to be there. Every once in awhile it’s good to give your car a good cleaning, removing some of the baggage and other items you find inside. A lighter car doesn’t have to work as hard to get you moving!
