Should you buy a sedan or coupe?

Differences between sedans and coupes

When you’re in the market for a high quality small vehicle, there’s no doubt that you’ve taken two builds and trims into consideration: sedans and coupes. Though both are capable of providing you with an excellent compact experience, these two industry favorites do differ in some important ways. So, today we’ll show you the differences between sedans and coupes to aid in your decision!

How do sedan and coupe models differ?

Sedans and coupes are similar in many factors, such as engine performance, interior technology and efficiency. However, the main difference between the two lies in their respective body stylings. Sedans are generally always built in four-door configurations, allowing for easier entry for passengers in the back row of seating. Coupes, on the other hand, are built with only two doors. This can help to make their bodies more aerodynamic, but it can also hinder rear entry because passengers must come in through the front doors and navigate their way over the front row of seats.

This styling does, however, set coupes up at an advantage when it comes to body weight and acceleration. Since a lot of weight is saved by building a vehicle with only two doors, coupes are generally much lighter than their sedan counterparts. This can have some advantageous effects if you’re looking for a bit more punch off the line.
