Weirdest driving laws in Colorado

In our opinion, Colorado is easily one of the best states in the United States. Beautiful scenery, amazing people and activities for those from all walks of life adds up to one of the most rewarding places on earth. However, Colorado is also a weird place statewide, especially when you consider some of the things you can’t do on the road. Today we’ll show you some of the weirdest driving laws in Colorado, most of which you didn’t learn in driver’s ed. Be safe out there!

You Can’t Drive A Black Car on Sunday

We’re not entirely sure why this rule exists, but it’s still written into state law that black cars can’t be driven on the first day of the week. Luckily, this law isn’t generally enforced statewide, so you won’t have to worry about tickets when you take that jet black convertible out for a Sunday drive.

Don’t Park Too Close To Others

This law is exclusive to Westminster (as is the one below), but we thought it was too strange to not mention. Apparently, you can get a ticket if another car parks within two feet of your vehicle, for allowing them to get too close to you. This is just another reason to not be around people.

Don’t Get Lost

In the days of GPS on our phones and in our cars, this is an outdated law, but also in Westminster you could get fined for getting lost in town between 9 PM and 4 AM. Presumably this is because driving around town aimlessly could make you look suspicious, but in any case it’s best to know where you’re going.

Don’t Break Down In Public

If you’re car’s a bit of a junker, be sure not to take a spin through Fountain. If you happen to break down on the road you could get a ticket for public nuisance. It sounds a little counter-intuitive, but it’s probably just best to stay on the safe side and get your car serviced routinely!
