What’s going on for Veteran’s Day on the Western Slope?

Veteran’s Day Weekend Events in Grand Junction CO for 2017

November is historically a time to remember all that we have to be thankful for, both in our personal lives and in the sacrifices of others. Though we know you’re all getting excited for the Thanksgiving festivities, Veteran’s Day can’t be overstated either. Not only is it a time for remembrance of all those who have given so much for our great country, it’s also a time to celebrate the freedoms that we’re granted on a daily basis because of our brave servicemen and women. We invite you to join us at some awesome Veteran’s Day Weekend Events in Grand Junction CO for 2017!

Free Admission at Colorado National Monument

There’s no shortage of awe and beauty here in western Colorado, and all Americans will get an extra treat over the weekend. The Colorado National Monument in Fruita is a breathtaking representation of our awesome state, and everyone will get in with free admission on the 11th and 12th!

Free Admission to Colorado State Parks

James M. Robb State Park and Highlane Lake are two favorite destinations in the Grand Junction area, and all active/retired military personnel will get in free on Veteran’s Day with valid identification! What better way is there to remember your service than by gazing at the natural beauty of the nation you fought so hard for?

The Altius String Quartet

If you’re looking for a little bit of culture and class over the weekend, The Altius string quartet will be performing at Colorado Mesa University on Saturday, November 11th at 3 pm, as part of the Western Slope Concert Series. It truly promises to be a great afternoon filled with incredible music, and better yet, tickets are only $9!

Veteran’s Day Parade

The hallmark of many a Veteran’s Day weekend has been the parade that kicks off the festivities. This time around, you’re invited to downtown Grand Junction at 2 pm, when the parade will kick off on Main Street. It’s always fun to see the cool floats and all the community members get together, and we can’t wait to partake!
