Should you buy winter or all-season tires?

Winter tires vs. All-Season tires for a used vehicle

Though it’s probably the last thing on anyone’s mind right now, once the falling leaves are cleared away it’s time to start prepping for colder winter weather. To get yourself prepared, two of the most popular options for any car are winter and all-season tires. Though both have their own unique advantages, many drivers are unsure of which tire is best for them. Today we’ll show you which one fits your situation better!

Construction and benefits of winter tires

If you drive a truck or SUV, winter tires might be a good option for you when you decide to head out into the upcoming snow. Their treads are constructed in heavy, thick “V” patterns, allowing you to clear snow away from your axles just by pressing on the gas. This, of course, means that you’ll see a decrease in performance on clear roads and in between fill-ups, but the knowledge of safety and extra security during inclement conditions is often too good to pass up.

Construction and benefits of all-season tires

Of course, if your vehicle of choice is a sedan or hatchback, all-season tires might be more your speed. They’re built with traction in mind during any and all conditions that could arise on the road, like rain, sleet, falling leaves and others. This reduced emphasis on snow itself can be a drawback, but it’s much easier to have much-needed peace of mind knowing that whatever happens, your vehicle has it covered.
