Should you buy a used car from an owner or a dealer?

Benefits of purchasing a used vehicle from a certified dealership

If you’ve looked at Craigslist or eBay recently in search of a used vehicle, there’s no doubt that you’ve encountered the option to buy from either an owner or a dealer. To the untrained eye, you might be in line for a more inexpensive route, without any middlemen, buying straight from an owner, but there are plenty of benefits of purchasing a used vehicle from a certified dealership. Join our Carville’s Auto Mart team today as we take you through some of the biggest advantages!

Reasons to buy a used car or truck from a dealership

For starters, taking the dealership route can help with your overall peace of mind in one major factor – having an unbiased opinion about the vehicles that you’re interested in. Not to knock vehicle owners in any fashion, but many are just looking to get rid of the vehicles that they don’t want, and some might overlook key function errors and problems in the descriptions that they give you. Here at Carville’s Auto Mart, our team takes pride in the fact that we carefully inspect each used vehicle that comes to our lot, then assign a fair market value so you know that you’re getting the best deal.

Speaking of which, we should also mention that with our dealership, you also have the option to finance or lease instead of buying outright. This is often something that direct sellers don’t offer, and we’ll also get you set up with some great warranty and insurance coverage for your model!

  • It's interesting to know that dealership will inspect each used vehicle that comes to their lot, and assign a fair market value to it. My brother is thinking about buying a car for his wife, and he was thinking that it will be better to buy a used car since she just learned to drive. I will recommend buying a used car from a dealership to make sure he gets the best car available.

  • Very well said sir, even the owner doesn't have any expertise to answer most queries of the buyer and also not aware of the quality that has to be maintained or inspect to sell his vehicle error and damage-free.
