Difference between light-duty and heavy-duty trucks

For the last few decades, pickup trucks have skyrocketed in popularity amongst all kinds of American consumers. Bringing excellent power and durability to the table, trucks exhibit an undying willingness to get the job done, no matter what the situation calls for. However, many drivers today are unaware of the difference between light-duty and heavy-duty trucks; we’ll tell you all about these two monster lines today at Carville’s Auto Mart!

What is a light-duty pickup truck?

There are two main categories that trucks break off into, and the first deals with a “light-duty” emphasis. Have you ever noticed that some trucks operate more like sedans and crossovers than their larger brethren? That’s not on accident; light-duty trucks are built on smaller platforms with smaller engines, allowing you a bit more punch and adrenaline than would otherwise be available. Though known more for aesthetics and adventuring than pure grit, there’s no doubt that light-duty trucks have a firm hold on many consumers’ hearts.

Notable Examples of Light-Duty Trucks: Honda Ridgeline, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma

What is a heavy-duty pickup truck?

Heavy-duty trucks are what most drivers think of when they picture a pickup. Large, extended beds, four-door cabs and high-performing V8 engines are hallmarks of these types of lines, which have made heavy-duty pickups a stalwart in the industry as a whole. Dealing less with appearance and more with unbridled strength and durability, heavy-duty trucks are what you’re more likely to see on the worksite.

Notable Examples of Heavy-Duty Trucks: Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tundra

  • I never knew light-duty trucks are built on smaller platforms and have smaller engines. My husband and I have been driving light-duty trucks, but we recently started our own ranch and need to transport lots of trailers and equipment more often, so we're looking into getting a heavy-duty work truck. Hopefully we can find a good dealer in our area who can help us find a good truck!

  • I liked how you explained that light-duty trucks are built with smaller engines. My husband and I are thinking of getting a truck in the near future and it is helpful to know what options are out there. Thank you for your article. It was helpful.

  • I thank you because the article has told me something new. I really didn't know this light-duty trucks are built on smaller platforms with smaller engines, allowing you a bit more punch and adrenaline than would otherwise be available. The way you explain is very easy to understand.

  • The article has very good information. Business auto arrangements can cover possessed vehicles just as leased, rented, or contracted ones and you can likewise get business auto inclusion for any work hardware, representatives, or travelers inside the vehicle or even security for your business in case of a claim. This information is really new to me and possibly for some other people as well.

I am not going to compare with each other. Just I want to tell my comfortableness. I feel comfortable with smaller engines. But heavy-duty pickup trucks use V8 engines.
