Steps to receive a Class \u201cM\u201d Motorcycle endorsement for your Colorado driver\u2019s\u00a0license\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Unlike many other states, Colorado does not issue separate licenses for motorcycle owners and riders \u2013 instead, you\u2019ll need to apply for an endorsement that is added to your existing driver\u2019s license. To be eligible, you should be at least 16 years old \u2013 if you\u2019re under 18, also be advised that you must have held a motorcycle instruction permit for 12 months prior to your application.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We also recommend that you\u00a0take a look\u00a0at Colorado\u2019s Motorcycle Operator Handbook<\/a> and sign up for a couple practice tests<\/a> \u2013 you can never be too prepared!   1. Take and pass the written exam and vision tests for eligibility; you\u2019ll also need to show proof of identity if you don\u2019t already have a license in the state.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Take and pass a motorcycle driving test \u2013 you can take care of this either on-site at the DMV, or beforehand with a third-party tester. If you opt for the latter option, be sure to take your receipt to the DMV when you take your written exam.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
